Protect yourself from fraud: our official communications
Your safety is our priority

Hotel Plaza Venice cares about the safety of its guests even before arrival. Recently, attempts to defraud travelers have increased, through messages or websites that imitate communications from accommodation providers. We invite you to read this page carefully.

How we communicate with our guests

Official contact channels

The only ways Hotel Plaza Venice contacts its guests are:

  • Email: exclusively from the addresses listed in the footer of this official website. We do not use other addresses, graphic variations, or similar domains.
  • Phone: only the numbers listed on this official page.
  • Booking platforms: for reservations made through Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, or other OTAs, any communication takes place through the platform’s internal messaging system.
  • We do not use WhatsApp, Telegram, or other instant messaging services to contact customers, request payments, or send links. Any message that appears to come from the hotel through these channels should be considered fraudulent.

How we handle payments

Payments related to bookings are made exclusively:

  • through the secure system of the platform used to make the reservation (e.g. Booking.com, Expedia, etc.);
  • or directly at the property upon arrival or according to the terms specified in the official booking confirmation.

We never request payments via:

  • links sent through WhatsApp, SMS, or unverified emails;
  • bank transfers to IBANs communicated through non-official channels;
  • prepaid card top-ups, gift cards, or cryptocurrencies;
  • websites other than this official site or authorized booking platforms.

If you receive a payment request through any of these channels, do not make any payment and contact us immediately.

How to recognize a fraud attempt

Be cautious if you receive:

  • a WhatsApp, Telegram, or SMS message claiming to be from the hotel;
  • an email with a slightly different address than the official one (e.g. extra letters, hyphens, or different domains such as .net instead of .it);
  • a message asking you to click a link to “confirm” or “complete” your booking, especially if it leads to a website different from this one or the original platform;
  • a request to make an advance payment not specified in the original booking confirmation.

These are typical signs of phishing, a technique increasingly used in the tourism sector.

What to do in case of doubt

If you have any doubts about the authenticity of a communication that appears to come from us:

  1. Do not click on any links or make any payments.
  2. Contact us directly using the official email addresses and phone numbers listed on this page.
  3. If you believe you have been a victim of fraud, report it to your bank (to possibly block transfers), to the Postal Police authorities, and if you have shared personal data, consider reporting it to the Data Protection Authority (www.garanteprivacy.it).
