From Kandinsky to Botero. All in One Thread

Yellow, Red, Blue, 1990, From Vassily Kandinsky, High heddle tapestry, Wool, 304 x 190 cm, Scassa Tapestry weaving, Asti, Private Collection, Asti

The exhibition features 100 tapestries from the Arazzeria Ugo Scassa, which in a happy marriage between art and craftsmanship, show off the best of the twentieth century: warts of exceptional fineness faithfully reproduce the paintings by Kandinsky, Klee and Matisse, as well as Fernando Botero, Joan Mirò, Giorgio De Chirico, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Felice Casorati, Mirko Basaldella and, of course, Corrado Cagli. The weaves of warp knits in one of the last Italian tapestries, look wavering at the masterpieces of the '900, evoking modern fantasies of sparkling ship journeys that sail the seas of a new century, and together stories of an ancient knowledge, which it shares distant cities, bringing the imaginary back to fantastic visions of unicorns and ladies.
